Once a project is decided upon, a team of personnel is carefully selected that suits the program. The team begins by methodically reviewing the estimate. Next the Project Manager and Superintendent will organize a schedule of activities to establish the critical path and proposed completion date. Identifying and procuring items with long lead times is especially important. This review time also helps to mitigate issues with timing or constructability.

One or more preconstruction meetings will be held that includes the owner, owner representatives, design team, subcontractors, suppliers and project management team. The meeting(s) will describe the responsibilities of each party including: schedule, communication channels, site access, change management, submittal procedures, safety and security, testing and inspection, pay applications, and anything else that is deemed pertinent to the specific job.
